| BLUESPEED was formed in 2005 by Dan & Ken to fulfill a common desire to get back to the basics of classic blues and rock while providing shows that offer fun, recognizable tunes that span the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. After a couple of early gigs, the band reformed, added Tom to the mix, and expanded their repertoire. Have a listen to a few representative tunes on the bluessounds page and for more scoop, check out the additional links." BLUESPEED is available for private function bookings: company parties, fund-raisers, wedding receptions, etc. and will customize shows for given events. Typical fees range from $500-1000, depending upon the location, venue, and show duration. We can be reached through the contact page on this site. |

Ken’s fascination with drums started at a young age … backing the Baytown, TX middle school choir on such classic hits as Happy Together, Daydream Believer, and The Age of Aquarius. From that time through high school and college, Ken commonly found himself sitting alone in the classroom as a result of incessant drumming on the desk. Following years of playing in & out of various garage bands, Ken settled in the small town of Maurice, LA (home of Hebert’s famous Turducken) where he met Tom and formed the blues/rock band The Swingin’ Richards. That five year run resulted in many memorable gigs featuring appreciative crowds as well as boiling pots filled with assorted crustaceans and other swamp-dwelling creatures.
The pursuit of “black gold” reunited Ken & Tom in Houston where to this day they, along with Dan, continue their quest to work through the alphabet of classic blues & rock tunes. |

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Dan's musical odyssey began with an east-coast high school love affair with a drumkit, continued with a Californicatin' college love affair with a microphone stand and guitar, and has settled into the comfortable rhythm of Gulf-coast bass and vocals. Playing in cover- and original-bands such as Ragin' Brew, Cerebral Paisley, Uncle Wiggly, Shagwagon, and Hands Down has led Dan to want to get back to blues and roots rock, and BlueSpeed has been a happy home for his bass-notes and vocals. Locking in with Ken's tight riddims and backbeat, Dan creates a platform to launch Tom's tasteful rhythm biscuits and solo gnotes into the bluessphere, while barking out soulful vocals to add finishing touches. Dan has also spent time in the studio recording and mixing originals projects for himself and others, and he's been known to twiddle knobs for the occasional live gig as well.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "I was a big fan of AM radio when I was growing up in San Antonio. That was sort of before FM, and I'm pretty sure it was before XM too.", says Tom. "Our parents gave us these small radios called 'transistor radios', that had a little battery inside so you could listen to it outside. That was when I became a music fan." Raised on a mix of big band sounds, classic 60's, and R+B, he picked up the guitar in the 70's, drifting into AOR and southern rock before branching out into bluegrass, dawg music, folk, and blues. Tom met up with Ken when he moved to Maurice after living in the desert for 15 years. "Hebert's had the best stuffed chickens and pork chops, and I saw Ken there once loading up his semi-trailer for one of his Swinging Richard's events. I followed the trail of sauce piquant drippings and met the rest of the band". Eventually Tom also left the promised land for the oil lucre to be found only in Houston, and rejoined Ken and his band mates, but is still waiting for that giant pot of jambalaya. |
